Iran’s ‘Coexist’ to vie at Mestia filmfest

Iran’s ‘Coexist’ is to vie at the Mestia Int’l filmfest in Georgia.

Iranian short flick ‘Coexist’ has been slated to go on screen at the first edition of the Mestia International Short & Mountain Film Festival in Georgia.

Directed by Komeil Soheili, the 12-minute flick will be shown at the third competition division of the fest.

The film is about a blind captain living on Hormuz Island in south of Iran.

As the tensions increase, he starts making some traditional bread using three unexpected elements from the island.

He fishes by his one of a kind ability to hear the sound of fish in the ocean.

Then, he collects the island’s natural salt and its eating soil to make the bread.

‘Coexist’ has already participated in a number of global events, including the Terres Travel Festival-Films and Creativity in Spain and the International Disability Film Festival “Breaking Down Barriers” in Russia.

Soheili is a young prolific Iranian filmmaker and documentarian who gained lots of international recognitions for his works such as ‘Baraka, the Cow’, ‘The Little Plant’, ‘So Far, So Close’, and ‘Branches and Brushes’.

According to the official website of the fest, the Mestia International Short & Mountain Film Festival is “an event screening mountain-themed feature films.”

The event also embraces the short productions by devoting sections to screening them.

The first edition of the fest is slated for September 15-19.
